Volunteer at the Quincy Soup Kitchen: (Back to top)

Thank you for your interest in volunteering with us at the Quincy Soup Kitchen at Horizons Social Services of Adams County!

If you are interested in volunteering at the Quincy Soup Kitchen, we first ask you to contact the local church where you worship to find out if there is a day of the week when your church is already working here.  If your church is already volunteering at Horizons, we encourage you to get involved with them.  If your church is not volunteering at Horizons, but you think they would like to do so, please have someone
contact us.   Also please feel free to send us an email with any additional questions you may have about volunteering.  We will endeavor to respond to you as quickly as possible.

Again, we thank you for your interest in volunteering at Horizons, and we hope to see you soon!

Become a Transitional Work Employer: (Back to top)

Thank you for your interest in partnering with us at the Quincy Transitional Work Program of Horizons Social Services of Adams County!

From time to time, Horizons will need to place one of the people we have been mentoring in the Quincy Transitional Work Program into a part- or full- time job in the greater Quincy area.  Of course, we also direct these individuals to local job placement agencies, but we have found that when a person has a “history”, even if they have set things in motion to redeem the past, sometimes it can be very hard to find gainful employment.  As a result, we seek to be advocates for those who we genuinely believe have changed, are changing, are at low risk for repeat offenses, and who will be a positive asset to their employer.

At Horizons we take a strong hand in monitoring the progress of our men and women once they are employed, and we continue to support them in being part of a local church community. Research has proven that with continued support, mentoring and local church community involvement, former offenders are much less likely to repeat harmful patterns of behavior.  As a result, we are able to offer employers hard-working individuals who have a tremendous amount of motivation and support to insure their success in the workplace and in life.

If you would be willing to offer one of our dedicated individuals and their support team the opportunity to work for your business, please contact our program manager for the transitional work program, Mr. Chris Woodard, and let us know.  You can contact Chris by emailing him at: woodard5@hughes.net, or by stopping by our offices at 701 Hampshire Street (inside St. John’s Church) anytime between 11:30am and 1:30pm on Wednesdays.  We are looking forward to hearing from you!
